Candy-making runs in my family, with my great-great-grandfather founding a candy company in Minnesota over a century ago, a business that continues to thrive to this day. While I wasn’t connected to the family business growing up, his story of perseverance and dedication inspires me as I forge my own path in the confectionery world, blending traditional techniques with my unique vision.
Toute Douceur began in 2010, in a tiny apartment galley kitchen in downtown Denver—a kitchen with no dishwasher and barely enough room to move. What started as a simple desire to learn and create quickly turned into a passion. Completely self-taught, I spent countless hours experimenting, learning from failures, and perfecting my craft. Over the years, my dedication to candy-making has grown into a celebration of quality ingredients and good old-fashioned techniques.
Near the end of 2016, I made the difficult decision to leave an emotionally abusive marriage, taking my then six-month-old daughter and starting over. Juggling a full-time job, caring for a toddler, and building this business was challenging, but it taught me resilience and deepened my passion for candy-making. My journey has been shaped by hard work and determination, and over time, I found my true partner—someone who supports my vision and has been an incredible father figure to my daughter. Now, with our three-year-old son part of the family, I’ve worked tirelessly to grow my business while balancing the joys and demands of family life. Every challenge and triumph has strengthened my commitment to crafting confections that bring happiness to others, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.
